Mario Circuit (Brawl) - There are no Shy Guy hazards. Lylat Cruise - The background stays as a constant scene in space, with no Arwings or asteroids. Luigi's Mansion - The mansion cannot be attacked or destroyed. Wii Fit Studio - The background does not change to a mirror.

Town and City - No background characters appear. Pyrosphere - Ridley and associated stage hazards do not appear, and there is no lava flowing in the background. The following stages are now available in 8-Player Smash, with certain stage events removed to adjust for performance: This update was released on January 29th, 2015. Replay data that is saved in the game prior to the patch update will no longer be playable after the update (same balance changes as 1.0.4 on 3DS if they weren't already implemented).

Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.

For consumers that pre-ordered from or pre-purchased through Nintendo eShop, this update completes the pre-load download allowing for full game installation.
